All the cycling teams of RV 1902 Laubach will be playing in their new outfits in future. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is donating 32 jerseys to the club, marking the 26th good deed this year.

The round must go into the square: as with football, this goal also applies to the niche sport of cycle ball, in which teams of two usually compete against each other indoors. The players must have agility, stamina and a good sense of balance if they want to score points against the competition. From 17 to 19 May, numerous visitors to the traditional Pfingstradball tournament in Laubach - the largest event of its kind in Germany - were once again able to marvel at how skilfully the athletes move on their special bikes. The 1902 Laubach Cycling Club (RV 02) has been organising this seasonal highlight since 1974.
"We are proud to organise such a tournament every year and to attract so many cycle ball players from all over Germany to Central Hesse. It's a very special weekend where the athletes get a lot of attention," assures Andreas Nebe, 1st Chairman of RV 02 Laubach. However, treasurer Jan Hentrich regrets: "Unfortunately, this attention is usually lacking, similar to many other amateur sports. This also has a financial impact and makes youth work more difficult. Spare parts or even new bikes are a huge drain on the club's finances." Regina Frank from the swimming pool department at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is also aware of this problem. Her three sons started cycling at a young age, and the youngest of them is still playing - and very successfully. Together with his partner, he has won several titles, made the junior national team squad last year and recently finished runner-up in the German junior championships. "Many clubs are reaching their limits. I've often realised that when I accompany the boys to their tournaments. That's why I suggested supporting the cycle ballers of RV 02 Laubach with one of our 75 good deeds from Stadtwerke in its anniversary year," explains Regina Frank.
SWG is equipping all the teams of the traditional cycling club in Laubach with 32 new jerseys. Regina Frank presented the symbolic donation cheque to 2nd Chairman Tobias Schniewind, Andreas Nebe and Jan Hentrich during the Whitsun cycling tournament on Saturday 18 May. "Our players are incredibly happy and very proud of their outfits. When we travel to tournaments in the future, all of our teams will finally be able to compete in uniform kit - an investment for which we previously lacked the money," said Andreas Nebe, who thanked SWG for their help together with his fellow board members.
