For several weeks now, lines 5 and 15 as well as the "Venus" night bus line have been running on a diversion route due to construction work in Giessen-Wieseck. The alternative route will be changed from Monday 1 December for around one to two weeks. Among other things, the previous replacement stops in Treiser Weg will now be cancelled.
The carriageway in Alten-Busecker Straße in Giessen-Wieseck has been undergoing roadworks since mid-October. The city bus routes 5 and 15 as well as the night bus route "Venus" therefore have to take an alternative route. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will have to change the diversion route for the next construction phase from Monday, 1 December.
Until now, the buses have travelled from the "Wieseck-Friedhof" stop via Alten-Busecker Straße and Treiser Weg to the replacement stop "Greizer Straße" near Krumstück Straße. From 1 December, lines 5 and 15 will take a U-turn route from the "Weimarer Straße" stop via the "Alten-Busecker Straße/Altenburger Straße" roundabout back to the replacement stop "Greizer Straße" in Alten-Busecker Straße. This means that the previous replacement stops in Treiser Weg will also be cancelled - in addition to the regular stops "Greizer Straße" and "Jenaer Straße" in Greizer Straße and the "Hölderlinweg" stop.
Stadtwerke Gießen is relocating the "Friedhof" stop to Rabenauer Straße in both directions of travel. In addition, the buses on lines 5 and 15 travelling into the city will stop at the replacement stops "Greizer Straße" and "Weimarer Straße" in Alten-Busecker Straße.
"Venus" back on the regular route
The diversion for the "Venus" night bus route will be lifted from 5 December. From the second weekend in Advent, the buses will run on the regular route again.
