Obvious fraudsters are currently trying to use the upcoming switch from L-gas to H-gas for their own purposes. Stadtwerke Gießen advises caution.
Once again, fraudsters are on the prowl in the region. Their scam is based on the upcoming changeover from L-gas to H-gas. Equipped with a gas supplier's business card, they have already tried to persuade gullible natural gas customers in Wettenberg-Krofdorf to sign a new natural gas contract at their front door. This was necessary because of the changeover.
"That's complete nonsense," comments Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), on the far-fetched argument. After all, the switch from L-gas to H-gas has no influence whatsoever on existing contractual relationships. In future, only natural gas with a higher calorific value will flow through the pipes. The price also remains unaffected by the changeover.

So far, there are no known cases in the Mittelhessen Netz GmbH network area. But it is not unlikely that the crooks will try their luck here too. Ulli Boos therefore advises caution: "Irrespective of the fact that unannounced sales calls are not permitted, I recommend that all customers avoid engaging in such conversations in the first place."
SWG is asking all those who have been visited by such crooks for their support. "We are grateful for any information about when and where the fraudsters are active," adds Ulli Boos. Because with this knowledge, SWG can better warn its customers and possibly initiate criminal prosecution of the dodgy characters. Anyone wishing to report an attempted scam can call the SWG service number 0800 2302100 .
