Visitors to the Giessen City Festival can once again look forward to a spectacular programme this year: open-air music, culture, plenty of culinary delights and an open Sunday. Stadtwerke Gießen will ensure a comfortable journey home. From 17 to 19 August, there will be a special timetable with late-night services.

From 17 to 19 August, Giessen city centre will once again be a party mile. Tens of thousands of people will celebrate the city festival, dance to open-air music, enjoy numerous cultural events and cheer on sporting competitions. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will once again be organising a special bus service to get visitors home in comfort late at night. On the occasion of the festival weekend, the buses will run from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday, even late at night.
At 00:30 and 01:00 each day, several lines will depart from the Marktplatz bus stop. These include buses on line 1 to Lützellinden and Rödgen, line 2 to Eichendorffring, line 3 to Friedhof and Schwarzacker, line 5 to Wieseck and line 7 to Philosophenwald. SWG uses spacious articulated buses on lines 1, 2 and 5 to transport the expected large number of passengers in comfort.

Line 801 will take passengers from Marktplatz to Weststadt and as far as Rathenaustraße. A scheduled taxi will take passengers to Petersweiher and Sandfeld as well as in the direction of the Protestant Hospital. Please note: Line 24 to Heuchelheim and Kinzenbach departs on Saturday at 00:26 and 01:00 respectively. On Friday, the buses in this direction - like the others - depart at 00:30 and 01:00.

Free night buses: Venus and Saturn
During the festival weekend, the free Venus and Saturn night buses start at Berliner Platz. They run on Friday and Saturday nights from 00:30 to 04:30. The Saturn line takes passengers to the south and east of the city and stops in Kleinlinden. The Venus line runs to the railway station and to the north and west of Giessen as far as Wieseck. The connecting taxi continues to Rödgen, Allendorf and Lützellinden. In the direction of Rödgen, this departs from the Waldstadion stop - to Allendorf and Lützellinden from the Waldweide stop.
"The bus is a convenient and safe way for visitors to get to the city and back home again during the festival weekend," says Anne Müller-Kreutz, Head of Local Transport Services at SWG, describing the advantages of public transport. If you want to get to the city festival by bus at a particularly favourable price, look for like-minded people: The group day ticket for up to five people costs just 7.80 euros.

Run 'n' Roll for Help: Diversion on Sunday
Due to the Giessen city run "Run 'n' Roll for Help", which takes place on 19 August, line 5 in the direction of the train station and line 12 to Berliner Platz will be running on a diversion route between around 11:00 and 20:00. The buses on line 5 in the direction of the railway station will run from the Landgericht stop via Moltkestraße and Grünberger Straße. Instead of stopping at the Behördenzentrum, they will stop at Berliner Platz.
Line 12 will start its journey in the direction of Berliner Platz at the Steinstraße stop. The alternative route leads via Nordanlage and Marktplatz. The Landgericht stop is cancelled. Buses on lines 5 and 12 in the direction of Wieseck or Sandfeldschule will run on the usual route.
Due to the event, it will not be possible to get off at the Stadttheater stop in the direction of Marktplatz. This also applies to line 24. The next possibility to get on and off is at Marktplatz.
