Stadtwerke Gießen is having to reroute some bus routes due to renovation work at the Frankfurter Straße railway crossing.

Due to necessary renovation work, the level crossing in Frankfurter Straße will be closed to traffic from Friday, 28 June 2019 from 11 pm until the following Tuesday, 2 July at 5 am. This work will also affect bus routes 1 and 10, the SATURN night bus route and route 11 of the Wetzlar transport company. The traffic experts at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) have worked out diversions for this.

The diversions in detail
During this period, line 1 will run in both directions via Bleichstraße, Ludwigstraße, Röntgenstraße and Friedrichstraße. The "Liebigstraße" stop in Frankfurter Straße will be cancelled in each case. Coming from Lützellinden/Allendorf/Kleinlinden in the direction of Sophie-Scholl-Schule/Rödgen, the "Friedrichstraße" stop in Frankfurter Straße cannot be served. Instead, the buses will divert to the "Friedrichstraße" stop in Friedrichstraße.

Line 10 will be routed via two diversion routes. It will run from Philosophikum II in the direction of the railway station from Frankfurter Straße via Klinikstraße, Lahnstraße, Gabelsberger Straße, Westanlage and Bahnhofstraße. The "Klinikstraße" stop in Klinikstraße and the "Parkhaus am Bahnhof" stop will be served. However, the regular stops "Klinikstraße" and "Friedrichstraße" will be cancelled in this direction. In the direction of Philosophikum II, route 10 will run from the "Bahnhof" stop via Frankfurter Straße, Alicenstraße, Ludwigstraße and Friedrichstraße to the "Friedrichstraße" stop.
Line 11 is only affected from the "Johanneskirche" stop in the direction of Wetzlar. The buses will not be able to serve the "Liebigstraße" stop. The diversion route via Bleichstraße, Ludwigstraße, Röntgenstraße and Friedrichstraße to the "Friedrichstraße" stop is the same as for line 1. The SATURN night bus travelling in the direction of Kleinlinden-Waldweide will also take the same route from the "Johanneskirche" stop.
SWG will maintain the departure times of the regular timetable for all affected lines. However, as slight irregularities are to be expected, SWG asks its passengers for their understanding and to allow a little more time.
All information on local transport, especially on the current diversions, is of course also available at the mobility centre on Marktplatz and on the Internet at www.swg-verkehr.de
