Handball equipment and a new tarpaulin for their yurt - the "Lindener Luchse" are delighted. Stadtwerke Gießen made a donation to the scout group as part of its "Play your game" campaign.
Linden. Social commitment, camps, experiencing nature, regular group meetings and shared rituals - all this and much more is what characterises the scout movement worldwide. This is also the case with the "Lindener Luchsen". They meet every fortnight on Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. in the community centre at Klausegasse 21. The scout group is part of the Evangelische Christusgemeinde - Stadtmission Linden and currently consists of eight volunteers and around 25 children aged between six and 13.
As, in addition to a new tarpaulin for a yurt, sports shirts and other accessories were also on his list of needed items, one of the employees, Patrick Frey, applied with the "Lindener Luchsen" to the SWG's "Spiel' Dein Spiel" campaign. With success.
Donation more than deserved
"Even though sport may not be as much of a focus for the scouts as it is for other clubs that we sponsor as part of "Spiel' Dein Spiel", exercise in nature and group sporting activities are a natural part of the programme," explains Stephanie Orlik, who is responsible for sponsorship at SWG's marketing department, among other things.
"What's more, the scouts generally focus on the development and support of young people. Taking responsibility, showing respect for their fellow human beings and nature and always being ready to fulfil their duties and help other people. Anyone who is committed to all of this more than deserves to be honoured with a donation," says Stephanie Orlik. An attitude that fits perfectly with the scouts' motto "A good deed every day".
Perfectly equipped for the next camp
With the donation from SWG, the scout tribe was able to buy a set of team waistcoats and team ribbons as well as two pop-up handball goals in addition to an urgently needed new tarpaulin for its yurt. Community pastor Martin Grebe is also delighted with SWG's donation: "It's great to see that our voluntary work is being recognised and supported. And of course the children can hardly wait to try out their new equipment. We are delighted that this is now possible again after a long period of lockdown."
More participants wanted
Due to coronavirus, SWG had to suspend its "Spiel' Dein Spiel" campaign for an extended period of time. "We are now delighted that we can once again make monthly donations in cash or in kind to clubs, teams or schools that are committed to children's and youth sport in the region," says Stephanie Orlik. Provided, of course, that the infection figures remain stable. SWG accepts applications on its special website: swg-spieldeinspiel.de/bewerben
