Stadtwerke Gießen has started supplying water to Annerod

It was "water march" yesterday in Annerod, at the Mittelzone elevated tank on the B49, for the Fernwald district of Annerod. Now that the water supply contract between Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) and the municipality of Fernwald has been finalised, the construction work and laying of the new supply pipeline has also been completed. In future, high-quality drinking water for Annerod will be transported from the Mittelzone elevated tank on the B49 to the Fernwald district via a 460 metre long supply pipeline.

SWG expects to supply around 140 thousand cubic metres of fresh water to Annerod every year.

The water supply contract was concluded at the end of last year after the municipality of Fernwald decided on a concept that envisages SWG supplying water to the Annerod district. Sufficient security of the so-called fire reserve for this district is now also in place.

Mayor Matthias Klose, Karl-Rudolf Schön (First Alderman), Manfred Siekmann (Chairman of the SWG Management Board), his colleague on the Management Board Reinhard Paul, Harald Schott (Sales Distributors and Municipalities), Peter Keller (Head of Gas and Water Supply Systems Engineering) and Norbert Pausner (Deputy Head of Gas and Water Supply Systems Engineering) met to symbolically pull the lever for the water supply.

Co-operation

By working together, Stadtwerke Gießen and the municipality of Fernwald decided to ensure a sustainable water supply for Annerod. It was a long road to the conclusion of the contract - the municipality of Fernwald considered various options for the water supply, but never disregarded economic viability. Fernwald has secured a forward-looking and comprehensive partnership in water supply for the next 20 years.
