Use energy carefully
In a lecture from the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" series, an expert from Stadtwerke Gießen provides information on the topic of "Sustainable energy consumption".
When it comes to the energy transition, the term renewable energies comes into play relatively quickly. However, many people forget that reducing energy consumption is an important factor in this context. An expert from Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will explain just how important this is in an online lecture entitled "Sustainable energy consumption - options for optimisation" on 29 April 2025 at 5.30 pm. "One focus of the lecture is to give participants an impression of how valuable energy is," says Moritz Müller, energy consultant at SWG, adding: "This realisation helps us to be more conscious and therefore more economical in our use of energy." Which ultimately has two positive effects: Reducing energy consumption protects the environment and the household budget.
Knowing your consumption
As in all lectures in the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" series, the speaker uses numerous practical examples to shed light on this complex topic. For example, he explains how the power consumption of various household appliances can be easily monitored. "Only those who know the consumption of washing machines, computers etc. can intervene to control them," says Moritz Müller, explaining this important chapter.
Of course, the presentation is not limited to the electricity sector. The topic of heat is also discussed in detail. And for good reason. After all, around 80 per cent of a household's energy requirements are accounted for by heating and hot water. "The leverage for potential savings is therefore much greater here," reveals Moritz Müller.
