From 28 to 30 July, tens of thousands will once again celebrate the Golden Oldies weekend in Krofdorf-Gleiberg. Stadtwerke Gießen has once again organised a special bus service between Gießen and Wettenberg for the popular festival.

Giessen. Live music from the 50s, 60s and 70s and well-preserved classic cars attract tens of thousands of visitors to Wettenberg every year on the last weekend in July. In the Krofdorf-Gleiberg district, they experience a journey back in time to the last century at the three-day "Golden Oldies" festival. However, those travelling by car will have to face traffic jams and the search for a parking space before embarking on this journey back in time. The organisers therefore recommend using public transport. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has organised a special bus service.

Stops and journey times
Shuttle buses run every 30 minutes between Giessen and Wettenberg. Passengers board at bus platform 1 at the railway station. Operating times: Friday, 28 July from 18:00 to 23:30, Saturday, 29 July from 10:00 to 00:00 and Sunday, 30 July from 09:00 to 20:00. The following departure times apply for the last buses from Wettenberg in the direction of Gießen from the Wiesenstraße stop in Krofdorf-Gleiberg: Friday, 28 July 23:56, Saturday, 29 July 00:26 and Sunday, 30 July 20:26.
The buses will stop at the following bus stops in Giessen: Train station (bus platform 1), Liebigstraße, Johanneskirche, Stadttheater, Marktplatz, Oswaldsgarten, Schützenstraße, Gleiberger Weg, Leimenkauter Weg and Hochhäuser. Passengers can also get on and off the bus at the stops Gewerbepark Ost in Launsbach and Gewerbepark West, Seemühle, Klingelgarten, Wiesenstraße, Kronzenborner Weg and Wißmarer Straße in Krofdorf-Gleiberg.
Festival visitors who use the special transport service only pay once for the outward and return journey on the same day - two euros for a day ticket. Please note: This offer only applies to the special bus service, not to the regular lines 800 and 802, which serve all stops in Giessen at the usual times. In Krofdorf-Gleiberg, route 802 will run from the start of operations on 28 July and then until the end of operations on 30 July on an alternative route via Wiesenstraße and Kattenbachstraße due to the construction work. Restrictions must be expected for journeys on route 800 to and from Krofdorf-Gleiberg on Friday evening and Saturday evening. Buses will only stop at the stations Wiesenstraße, Kronzenborner Weg and Wißmarer Straße.

Passengers can find all information on stops and departure times in the special timetable for the Golden Oldies Festival - available from the Stadtwerke Gießen customer centre and on the SWG website at www.swg-verkehr.de.
