A reason to rejoice for motorists in Giessen: From Saturday morning, traffic can once again flow without obstructions on Marburger Straße towards the city centre. Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) has completed its construction work on the water and gas pipes in the section between Wiesecker Weg and Sudetenlandstraße three weeks earlier than planned, meaning that the one-sided lane closure in this area can now be lifted.
Short-term obstructions could only occur again at the beginning of January when the necessary road marking work is carried out.
SWG began construction work on Marburger Straße at the end of October. This involved replacing the main water pipe as well as the low-pressure gas pipe and the medium-pressure gas pipe. Due to this extensive work, one lane in the direction of the city centre from Wiesecker Weg to Sudetenlandstraße had to be closed for the entire duration of the construction work.
