enerGIeßen: Energy service of Stadtwerke Gießen

Winter is just around the corner. The first night frosts have heralded the start of the heating season. But to ensure that winter really does stay outside, the warm parlour must be well insulated. Draughty gaps in doors or windows are immediately noticeable as energy wasters. But to reveal even the smallest, inconspicuous leaks, Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) offers thermography.

Thermography is the visualisation of different surface temperatures on buildings and facades. The energy experts use the thermographic images to specifically search for heat losses. These heat leaks affect energy consumption and can lead to critical moisture deposits in building components. Building defects or leaks in pipes can also be localised using this method. Insulation materials that have not been installed correctly can also be recognised or water damage can be shown.

It makes sense to use the infrared camera to analyse weak points in existing buildings before renovation work or in connection with the creation of an energy performance certificate. However, thermography can also be used as a quality control after the construction of new buildings or after refurbishments. In order to achieve high-quality images, low outside temperatures are an advantage. The building must be fully heated and all windows and doors must be kept closed for several hours before the images are taken. The images cannot be taken in the rain.

With the enerGIeßen energy service, Stadtwerke offers more than just thermography. enerGIeßen consists of various modules that customers can choose individually or combine with each other. SWG's consultants can draw up a customised energy-saving plan for each customer. The following modules are part of enerGIeßen:

  • Energy performance certificate
  • thermography
  • Blower door test
  • Planning, construction and optimisation of heating systems
  • E-check
  • Energy advice
