The outdoor swimming season at Ringallee is drawing to a close
On 13 September, an exceptionally good season will come to an end at the Ringallee outdoor swimming pool.
An exceptionally successful season comes to an end at the Ringallee outdoor swimming pool on 13 September.
This coming Sunday, 13 September, the Ringallee outdoor pool will close its doors for the year. The hot summer brought significantly more visitors to Giessen’s swimming pools than in the two rainy previous years. In fact, the management are delighted to have welcomed more than 110,000 visitors. “On 32 of the 133 days the pool was open, temperatures exceeded 30 degrees. And many of the particularly hot days fell during the summer holidays. So it’s no surprise that so many people took advantage of what we had to offer and came looking for a bit of refreshment,” explains Uwe Volbrecht, head of Giessen’s swimming pools. By way of comparison: last year, just under 89,000 bathers found their way to the Ringallee outdoor pool.
After the season is before the season
As is the case after every season, the Ringallee outdoor pool will not be falling into a deep slumber this year either. On the contrary: Gießen’s swimming pools are using the time until they reopen – scheduled for early May 2027 – to carry out maintenance and repairs. Until then, all visitors can use the Ringallee indoor pool and the Westbad. Up-to-date information on opening hours, courses and admission prices is available at www.giessener-baeder.de.
