Giessen's swimming pools will open the Ringallee outdoor pool next Monday.

On Monday, 25 April 2022, Giessen's swimming pools will kick off the new season at the Ringallee outdoor pool - the first without hygiene requirements after two years of pandemic. "Nothing should stand in the way of a carefree outdoor swimming experience," says Uwe Volbrecht, Head of Giessen's swimming pools. But although the basic protection ordinance of the state of Hesse no longer imposes any restrictions on outdoor pools, the after-effects of the pandemic are still making themselves felt at the Ringallee pools this season: Unlike last year, there will be no e-tickets in 2022. This is because the long-ordered reading systems for the QR codes of the e-tickets are not available. "Under these circumstances, the online ticket offers our guests no advantage whatsoever. That's why we're doing away with it completely this season," says Uwe Volbrecht, explaining the decision.

In the swimming pool itself, the Giessen pools are retaining a procedure that has proved successful over the past two summers: swimming in the roundabout. The opening hours will also remain the same. Those who wish can swim their laps in peace and quiet as early as 07:00 in the morning. The outdoor pool closes at 20:00. Swimmers will still be admitted until 19:30.

After two years, the Giessen pools have had to slightly increase the prices for season and ten-person tickets again for the first time this season. A single admission ticket remains at 3.60 euros, the 10-person ticket is now 33 euros (concessions 22 euros), the season ticket for adults is 107.30 euros (concessions 71.50 euros) and the season ticket for families is 214.60 euros. Children under the age of six continue to be admitted free of charge. The familiar flat-rate agreement with the three Giessen universities will also apply in 2022, and their students can have a suitably coded card made at the ticket office for a five euro deposit and then use it to enter the pool directly through the turnstile.

Meanwhile, preparations for the season in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden are in full swing. "We are currently assuming that we will open the two outdoor pools in the course of the 23rd calendar week," announces Uwe Volbrecht.
