Until Sunday, 2 September, outdoor pool enthusiasts in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden can swim in the fresh air and hopefully under the warm late summer sun. The two pools will then close for 2018 after 92 opening days each. The hot summer gave Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) a record season: over 42,000 visitors came to the two outdoor pools to cool off between the beginning of June and the end of August - more than twice as many as in 2017 and more than half of them in July alone, i.e. during the summer holidays. "The weather of the century is clearly reflected in our visitor numbers," says a delighted Uwe Volbrecht, head of the swimming pools department at SWG.
Despite the closure of the pools on the first Sunday in September, the open-air bathing fun is not yet over for this year: "The Ringallee outdoor pool is expected to remain open until 30 September. The season tickets for Lützellinden and Kleinlinden will also be valid there from Monday 3 September.
