The outdoor pool season in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden ends on 31 August. The Ringallee outdoor pool will remain open until 19 September.
Giessen. The outdoor pools in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden will close at the same time as the meteorological end of summer this year. As a result, outdoor pool fans who want to take a dip without the midsummer weather can continue to do so until Tuesday 31 August. "Because of the cool nights, the water temperature during the day is only 19 degrees at most," says Uwe Volbrecht, head of the Giessen pools, explaining the decision. In the heated Ringallee outdoor pool, on the other hand, visitors can enjoy the outdoor pool season a little longer with a current water temperature of 23 degrees - until 19 September.
Challenging season
Average temperatures and often rainy weather in this second summer of the pandemic meant that the coronavirus-related visitor limits were barely reached in the 84 days that the Kleinlinden and Lützellinden swimming pools were open. And yet Stadtwerke Gießen's conclusion for the 2021 season is positive. "It was clear relatively early on that the pandemic would mean that we would have to reckon with a not entirely carefree outdoor pool season this summer," explains Uwe Volbrecht. "Nevertheless, we are pleased that we were able to provide refreshment and leisure fun in our pools again this year despite hygiene rules and entry restrictions. We would like to thank all our guests for their visit - and of course for understanding the situation and behaving responsibly without losing the fun."
