On Monday, 6 May, the Ringallee swimming centre in Giessen set a new record: the ten millionth visitor entered the swimming pool operated by Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG). At 2.04 pm, Reinhard Paul, Technical Director of SWG, welcomed Gerhard Hopfenmüller and presented him with a voucher for a 6-month ticket for the Ringallee swimming centre. "The fact that we have broken the ten million barrier in terms of visitor numbers shows us that our swimming pool is really well received," said Reinhard Paul happily. Swimming enthusiasts have been coming to Giessen's indoor pool at Schwanenteich for 45 years. SWG regularly invests in the swimming centre to make it attractive and keep it up to date with the latest technology. In recent years, for example, new extensions have been built with an aqua-gym pool and "activity pool", which are used for a variety of underwater equipment training.
