05.12.2012

From next Sunday, 9 December 2012, the new fares and updated timetables for 2013 will apply in the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) area. Some changes will also affect the city bus service in Giessen, which is organised by the local transport subsidiary of Stadtwerke Giessen MIT.BUS. Among other things, prices will rise by around 6 per cent due to higher energy and personnel costs.

Overview of the new prices
From 9 December, the following fares will apply for the city of Giessen and the municipality of Heuchelheim: a single ticket costs 1.80 euros, the normal monthly ticket 38.70 euros, the monthly ticket for journeys from 9 a.m. 32.90 euros, monthly tickets for schoolchildren and trainees 31.00 euros, the annual ticket 379.30 euros for cash payment and 387.00 euros for monthly direct debit. The 50 per cent discount according to the Giessen Pass fare will continue to apply to single, weekly and monthly tickets.
After the timetable change, there will also be an attractive offer for passengers over the age of 65. Regardless of the price level purchased, they can travel throughout the entire RMV area at weekends or on public holidays with a personal 65-Plus annual ticket - including use of first class.

The new timetable
Stadtwerke already adjusted the timetable at the start of the semester in October and provided additional capacity, particularly on route 1, by using articulated buses. No further changes are planned.
However, there is an innovation in the timetable book for the city of Giessen and the district. Divided into six area booklets, the respective partial editions can be conveniently taken along. The partial edition for the city of Giessen costs 1 euro and contains the entire timetable offered by Stadtwerke Giessen, the timetables for lines 11 and 24 between Giessen and Wetzlar as well as information on rail transport. Passengers can purchase partial editions for transport in the district for 0.50 euros each. The complete edition - consisting of all six individual issues - costs 2 euros.

Passengers can also obtain information on the SWG service number 0641 708-1400 and on the Internet at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de or www.rmv.de. The new timetable booklet is now available at the mobility centre in the customer centre on Marktplatz. Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
