09.12.2011

From Sunday, 11 December 2011, the fares and timetables for 2012 will apply in the area of the Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV). These also affect city bus services in Giessen - organised by SWG and its local transport subsidiary MIT.BUS. Despite higher costs for fuel and personnel, prices will only rise by an average of 2.7 per cent. There will also be price reductions: In almost all price categories, it will be cheaper to buy a day ticket for 3.30 euros instead of two single tickets. The price of the HessenTicket will not change.

The new prices in detail
The following fares will apply for the city of Giessen and the municipality of Heuchelheim from the timetable change: A single ticket costs 1.70 euros, the normal monthly ticket 36.50 euros, the monthly ticket for journeys from 9 a.m. 31.00 euros, monthly tickets for schoolchildren and trainees 29.70 euros, annual ticket for cash payment 357.70 euros and 365.00 euros for monthly direct debit.

The ticket of the future: the eTicket

RMV annual pass customers can now travel simply, conveniently and securely with the eTicket in cheque card format. All data is stored on a chip. If you are already an RMV annual season ticket customer, you will receive your eTicket in good time before your paper ticket expires. If you would like to pay for your annual pass in cash, you can purchase the chip card from 12 December 2011 at the Mobility Centre in Schulstraße 7. More information on the eTicket can be found on the SWG website at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de.

The new timetable
A minor adjustment to the departure times affects line 3 in the direction of the cemetery. An additional journey from the station stop with a departure time of 6.59 a.m. has been added to the timetable for line 15. The 7.25 a.m. journey from the Greizer Straße stop has been integrated into line 15 with a new departure time of 7.18 a.m. - previously 7.21 a.m. - and a destination of Bahnhof. Passengers travelling in the direction of Weststadt can change at the Behördenzentrum at 7.45 am.
