Over the past few days, suspected fraudsters have once again tried to obtain the bank details of customers of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) by telephone. Two customers recently reported calls in which a man asked for their account number in the name of SWG. According to the unknown person, he needed this number to settle an alleged payment arrears. "We are familiar with scams like this. We would therefore like to warn our customers never to pass on confidential data such as account numbers or customer numbers," said SWG company spokeswoman Ina Weller about the suspected fraud attempts and assured: "No employee of Stadtwerke Gießen would ask for bank details over the phone. Anyone who receives such a call should get in touch with us."

SWG employees are available to help on the SWG service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from the German landline network and all German mobile phone networks) from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
