A suspected fraudster is on the loose in Wieseck, pretending to be an employee of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) and wanting to read electricity meters. A customer reported that the young man was unable to identify himself when asked. He is estimated to be around 16 years old.
"We cannot say whether this is an isolated case. We would therefore ask our customers to always ask to see their ID if they are unsure whether it is a Stadtwerke employee," said SWG company spokeswoman Ina Weller. Anyone who suspects fraud is asked by SWG to contact customer service immediately. SWG employees can be reached on the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from the German landline network and all German mobile phone networks) from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm.
