Once again, suspected fraudsters are on the loose in the Giessen area. Two people gained access to the home of a customer of Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) under the pretence of wanting to read the meter. They were wearing clothing with the SWG logo, but were unable to identify themselves as employees. In another case, a woman tried to obtain meter data from SWG customers by telephone. She called with a Hamburg dialling code - 040.
SWG warns against passing on personal data. "Our employees never visit our customers unannounced - unless it's an emergency. And then they can always identify themselves," explains Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG.
SWG asks those affected to get in touch if they come into contact with a suspected fraudster. Information can be provided by calling the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from German landlines and all German mobile networks), at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz or by emailing info@stadtwerke-giessen.de
