Once again, a suspected fraudster has tried to do dubious business at the front door with his scam - this time in Pohlheim. A customer of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) reported a man who pretended to be an SWG employee at the door and showed her an ID card. It was presumably a fake. He pretended to need to see the annual bill due to an alleged tariff change. As the customer had not changed tariff and the situation seemed dubious to her, she refused to show the man the documents. He then left to disappear into the neighbouring house.
"The customer from Pohlheim acted correctly and did not hand over any documents or disclose any data," explains SWG company spokeswoman Ina Weller. "If in doubt, customers should not let anyone into their home and should not disclose any personal details. If something similar happens to you, you can contact us directly."

SWG can help on the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from the German landline network and all German mobile networks) and at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz as well as by email at info@stadtwerke-giessen.de
