Caution with requested customer information

A customer of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) received a less than credible phone call yesterday morning. The telephone fraudster called a customer of Stadtwerke Giessen.

The man at the other end of the telephone line pretended to be an employee of SWG's electronic data processing (EDP) department. He wanted to credibly assure the customer that customer-relevant data such as bank details had been lost due to a problem in the system. The SWG customer did not trust the caller and did not give him any information.

In any case, caution is advised. In this context, Stadtwerke would like to point out that customer-relevant data is never requested by telephone. The Giessen-based energy and water supplier asks its customers to always contact SWG in the event of such dubious matters. You can reach the municipal utilities Monday to Friday from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on the service hotline 0180 / 22 11 100.
