Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is once again issuing a warning about suspected fraudsters trying to gain access to customers' homes.
In a press release dated 28 July, SWG stated that employees only visit customers' homes unannounced in an emergency. Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG, adds: "In emergencies and in a few exceptional cases - for example when the meters are being read. We have deliberately chosen this procedure for the benefit of our customers." This is because in the past, fraudsters have used publicly announced meter reading dates to impersonate SWG employees during the same period. "If you are unsure, you can always ask our employees for their ID. They always carry it with them," explains Ulli Boos.

If you suspect fraud, please contact SWG. Information can be provided by calling the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from German landlines and all German mobile networks), at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz or by emailing
