The energy consumer portal awarded Stadtwerke Gießen the TOP local supplier seal in the electricity and gas sectors for the tenth time in a row. The third award was given in the heat sector.

Once again, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has impressed the strict inspectors of the energy consumption portal: SWG recently received the TOP local supplier award again - in all three energy sectors, i.e. electricity, gas and heat. In the electricity and gas sectors, this is the tenth consecutive award. In the heating sector, the jury rated SWG as the top local supplier for the third time after 2019 and 2020.

Much more than an award ranking
The special thing about the TOP Local Supplier award is that the assessment criteria go far beyond the standards set by the relevant internet portals. Consequently, in addition to the price component, the services that energy supply companies provide for the region and the environment also play a role. The independent auditors place particular emphasis on security of supply, sustainability, service quality, advisory services, ecological, regional and social commitment, future issues and data protection. "All of these factors are becoming increasingly important," says Jens Schmidt, Commercial Director of SWG. "That's why we are naturally very pleased that we regularly perform so well in this meaningful comparison."
As in previous years, the fact that SWG has once again been honoured with this award has not prompted anyone at SWG to sit back and relax. On the contrary: "The fact that we have been able to call ourselves a TOP local supplier for a decade now is no coincidence, but the result of consistent work. And this is exactly what we will continue to do in the future," adds Matthias Funk, Technical Director of SWG. In fact, the permanent search for optimisation potential is firmly anchored in SWG's strategy - both in terms of energy efficiency and organisation. The same applies to its commitment to the region and the environment. Last but not least, SWG is driving forward important issues for the future. A current example is the development of a LoRa network, which lays the foundation for many useful applications in the context of a smart city. "We clearly stand out from our competitors not only, but especially in these areas," Jens Schmidt is certain. "And it's great to see that our work in this area has been recognised in the form of the TOP Local Supplier award."
