SWG support the Golden Oldies

Stadtwerke Gießen and the municipality of Wettenberg are continuing their successful co-operation in the area of "Golden Oldies".

Meticulously restored classic cars, music and fashion from past decades - under the name "Golden Oldies", this mixture has been attracting thousands of visitors to Krofdorf-Gleiberg for many years. This summer, the traditional festival will take place from 24 to 26 July. And Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is once again actively helping out - as a Gold Partner and stage sponsor. "We know SWG as a reliable partner and are delighted that we can count on them again in 2026," explains Wettenberg's mayor Marc Nees. In fact, SWG has been involved in the event, which is known far beyond the region, since 2003.

Extensive programme
Behind the Golden Oldies is a three-person team of employees from the municipality of Wettenberg: Nicole König, Alexander Bath and Christoph Ludwig have once again put together an attractive programme for this 35th edition of the street festival. In addition to the more than 1,000 classic cars, numerous artists will once again be performing and creating a great atmosphere - with music ranging from rock 'n' roll to beat, pop and disco to Neue Deutsche Welle. There will also be a nostalgia market with rarities from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, a roller skate disco, a photo opportunity, a costume competition, a vintage styling stand, dance performances and much more. And the varied culinary offerings and the children's paradise with plenty of age-appropriate entertainment make the Golden Oldies the ideal destination for the whole family. "It's always amazing what the organisation team puts together. We are happy to support such a unique cultural event," says SWG company spokesperson Ulli Boos, explaining the company's commitment.
