Stadtwerke Gießen is extending its partnership with the TSV 1889 Gießen-Klein-Linden e.V. inclusion football team for a further three years. In this way, they are promoting inclusive sport in the region.

The partnership between Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) and TSV Klein-Linden is entering the next round. SWG has been supporting the traditional club's inclusive football ID team since it was founded in 2015 and is extending the existing sponsorship agreement for the second time. "We are delighted to be able to continue supporting this great team in the coming years. This is a matter close to our hearts," emphasises Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing & Communication at SWG.

Enjoying sport together
The special thing about inclusive sport is that it brings people together - without barriers or prejudices. "Inclusion means that everyone can take part. Regardless of whether they have a disability or not," explains Ruben Ebenig, Head of Inclusive Sports at TSV Klein-Linden. Football in particular offers many opportunities for people with different disabilities to participate. "It's always amazing what sport can achieve. It connects people, breaks down barriers, boosts self-confidence and provides joy, energy and quality of life," adds the head of department.

Successful together

The football ID team at TSV Klein-Linden specifically supports people with intellectual disabilities. And they are very successful. The team has been playing in the Hessen League of the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (HBRS) for years. Every year, the Hessen Championship, the 11er Cup and the Hessen Cup are held here. In 2021, the team from Klein-Linden became Hesse champions for the first time at the Böllenfalltor in Darmstadt and won the 11er Cup for the third time.

Strengthening cohesion
But alongside all the successes, what counts most in inclusive sport is fun, cohesion and community. The club clothing sponsored by SWG is therefore also a highlight. After all, it emphasises the sense of belonging of the close-knit team. "As a municipal utility based here, we have been committed to the region for years - including for the sports clubs. Because just like in football, we at SWG also rely on a strong team," explains Ulli Boos. "The joy and gratitude of the players on the football ID team is confirmation of our commitment. We are proud to be part of such a great project."
