Support in saving energy, contracting, green electricity from Giessen: this year's Bau Expo was all about efficient energy supply for Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG). Among other things, SWG presented its new support programme for converting heating systems at the trade fair in February. "Stadtwerke Gießen supports anyone who switches to natural gas or district heating with a subsidy of 750 euros," explains Michael Rösner, Head of Private and Commercial Customer Sales at SWG.
In this context, the energy supplier organised a competition: the question was which service from the enerGIeßen package could be used to identify weak points in the insulation of a building façade. The tickets with the correct answer were entered into a prize draw.
Presentation of prizes at the customer centre
The five winners have now been chosen. Michael Rösner presented the first prize - a hydronic balancing system worth 1,500 euros - to Karola Eppendahl in the form of a voucher at the customer centre on Marktplatz on 25 April. "Hydraulic balancing of the heating system is an efficient way to save a lot of heating energy and therefore costs with little effort," says Michael Rösner. To do this, a plumber optimises the heating system for the respective building. He equalises pressure differences in the pipework so that the hot water from the boiler can be distributed evenly. "As a result, hydronic balancing ensures that the exact amount of heat required reaches every part of the house," emphasises Michael Rösner.
Two other lucky winners received their prizes on 15 April. Ute Thörner was delighted to receive a blower door test worth 390 euros. This test measures the airtightness of a building. Karlheinz Viehmann received a Heating Checkplus worth 149 euros each. With this service, a qualified tradesman from one of SWG's partner companies scrutinises the entire system and assesses its energy quality. "This gives the owner a precise overview of the potential savings that can be made by optimising the heating system," emphasises Michael Rösner. "The Heating Checkplus also serves as valid proof for accessing KfW subsidies for energy modernisation measures," he adds. Rolf Görlach, another winner of a Heating Checkplus, received a voucher for his prize by post. The winner of the fifth prize, Ümit Koc, was sent a voucher for the creation of a consumption-based energy certificate worth 138 euros.
