As of 1 October 2015, the energy price for natural gas will be reduced for customers in the basic supply of Stadtwerke Gießen, and the so-called performance price will be completely eliminated from this date.
Around a year ago, some energy market experts were still warning of possible capacity bottlenecks for natural gas due to the war in Ukraine. However, the opposite is actually the case, which is why the feared price increase on the energy market did not materialise. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) was even able to reduce its gas procurement costs. "An advantage that we will pass on directly to our customers before the winter," promises Ina Weller, company spokesperson for SWG.
From 1 October, SWG will reduce the basic supply price for natural gas by 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour net. "We are also cancelling the so-called performance price," explains Ina Weller. Customers had to pay this performance price if they operated heating systems with a nominal heat output of more than 47 kilowatts (kW). For each additional kW, seven euros gross per year was due. These costs have now been completely cancelled.

All of these changes will apply from 1 October for all tariffs in SWG's basic gas supply - i.e. for the "General prices for water heating/cooking" as well as for the "General prices for heating".
