High petrol prices and concern for the environment are making alternative fuels increasingly popular. This is also shown by the demand for the current SWG subsidy programme for natural gas vehicles. Michael Rösner, Head of Private and Commercial Customer Sales, was therefore able to congratulate the 100th participant on Wednesday 14 July. Stefan Deibel received an SWG-enerGIesparbox "Light" with energy-saving lamps and a natural gas filling station atlas for Europe. Like all other participants in the programme, he can now fill up with natural gas for half the daily price at the Aral filling station in Marburger Strasse for a whole year. In addition, the fuel price is already around 40 per cent cheaper.
For commuter Stefan Deibel, these financial benefits were the main reason for his decision to opt for a natural gas vehicle: "The daily journeys to Wetzlar alone make the switch worthwhile for me," says the Giessen native. The lower travelling costs also come in handy at weekends, when the passionate basketball player plays for TSG Wieseck in the regional league.
The prerequisite for participation in the SWG support programme is a gas-powered vehicle registered for the first time from 1 March 2009 or later - whether new or used. All information on the framework conditions is available on the Internet at www.energiessen.de and from the energy advice service of the municipal utility company at the infoCentre on Giessen's market square.
