On 15 August 2015, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will be offering all guests at the city festival a real highlight: the Tom Pfeiffer Band will be performing their anniversary programme on the SWG stage. From 20:00, the eight full-blooded musicians will set off fireworks on the church square with plenty of hits from the 70s and 80s. Many engagements and awards show that the band knows how to captivate their audience. In 2009, the men around band founder and namesake Tom Pfeiffer were voted hr1 Band of the Year, twice they opened FOREIGNER concerts as the support act and they have been a regular guest at the Hessentag and many other events in the region for years - including regularly at the city festival in Giessen. Even world stars have played with the band: In March 2014, Toto singer Bobby Kimball and PiTTi Hecht, the Scorpions' percussionist, performed on stage with the Tom Pfeiffer Band.
Just in time for its tenth anniversary, the Tom Pfeiffer Band has released its second CD entitled "Friends Will Be Friends". As the name suggests, guest musicians who are friends have contributed to the production. And visitors to the city festival can also look forward to such guests. Because the Tom Pfeiffer Band has of course come up with a surprise or two for the anniversary performance. This much can already be revealed: A high-calibre four-piece brass section will provide a very special sound with special arrangements and PiTTi Hecht has also confirmed his participation.

Space for young talent
The SWG music event starts long before the Tom Pfeiffer Band rocks the church square. From 18:30 to 19:30, the five young musicians of the band "Effekt" will be demonstrating their skills. They will perform their own compositions with lyrics in German and English - some emotional and profound, others with rocking sounds.
Various RPJAM artists will be performing from around 3.00 pm. The acronym stands for Rock Pop Jazz Akademie Mittelhessen gGmbH. The music school has blossomed into a real force on the German scene. Highly talented students - also from neighbouring countries - come to Giessen to train. They continue to enrich local festivals with their playing.
"I think we can present a really entertaining programme with these three acts," says Ina Weller, company spokesperson for SWG. Stadtwerke Gießen is indeed regularly involved in culture in and around Gießen. In 2015, they have been a sponsor of the city festival for more than ten years.
As usual, Stadtwerke Gießen cooperates closely with Gießen Marketing GmbH, the organiser of the Gießen City Festival. As the actual organisers of the city festival, the organisers are responsible for the programme, which will take place on the SWG stage on Friday (14 August) and Sunday (16 August).
