End of the season at the Ringallee outdoor pool
On Sunday, 14 September, the Ringallee outdoor pool closes its doors for this year. As in 2024, the season fell short of expectations.
When the 2025 season ends at the Ringallee outdoor pool on 14 September, around 91,000 guests will have visited the popular pool on a total of 133 opening days. Around 10,000 fewer visitors than last year. "In view of the cloudy and rather cool weather - especially during the summer holidays - we are nevertheless satisfied. Even after the rainy July, it was clear that we couldn't expect record visitor numbers this year," emphasises Uwe Volbrecht, Head of Giessen's pools.
Once again this year, the Ringallee outdoor pool provided a worthy setting for a real highlight: the "Spiel' Dein Spiel" - City Day. Seven sports clubs from Giessen and the region used the event to present their programmes to the public. The popular event with lots of sport, fun and action attracted around 4,500 young and old visitors on 29 June, who came to find out about various sports - including lesser-known ones such as floorball, a mixture of hockey and ice hockey.
Using the closing time for repairs
As usual, the Giessen pools are using the break between the autumn closure and the opening next spring for upcoming maintenance and repairs. There are also plans to finalise the installation of the four outdoor fitness machines on the site of the former mini golf course. Until the start of the next summer season at the beginning of May 2026, the Ringallee indoor pool and the Westbad will be available to bathers.
