A suspected fraudster apparently recently tried to gain access to the flat of a customer of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) in Ringallee. According to the woman, the man pretended to be working on behalf of SWG. He wanted to check whether there were any impurities in the drinking water. As the man was unable to identify himself, the SWG customer informed the police. "Nobody was there on our behalf on the day in question. So it could have been a fraudster," suspects Ina Weller, company spokesperson for Stadtwerke Gießen AG, and emphasises: "Our employees are always able to identify themselves. Anyone who is unsure should ask for the appropriate ID. Because it happens from time to time that suspected fraudsters pretend to be SWG employees."
Customers of Stadtwerke Gießen who have experienced something similar can call the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from the German landline network and all German mobile phone networks) to contact SWG employees and obtain advice.
