TV Hüttenberg and Stadtwerke Gießen are continuing their successful partnership for another three years.
Thrilling sport and an exuberant atmosphere in the stands - home games of TV 05/07 Hüttenberg (TVH) are must-attend events for many handball fans in the region. Because when coach Stefan Kneer's team goes on the hunt for goals in the second Bundesliga, the best entertainment is guaranteed. Every weekend, a team is on show that is fully committed until the final whistle and never gives up. This mentality is infectious. It ensures that the spark spreads to the crowd at home matches. There is always a great atmosphere in the stands. Even when an overpowering opponent defeats the TVH at home.
Many things in common
Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has been a sponsor of TV Hüttenberg for many years. The two partners have now extended this successful partnership for a further three years. "SWG and TVH have a number of things in common. For example, their regional roots and their endeavours to pursue innovative paths in order to remain competitive. So we are a good match," explains SWG company spokesperson Ulli Boos on the occasion of the signing. In fact, the club is consistently pursuing the strategy of developing young players from its own youth programme and carefully introducing them to the Bundesliga team in order to ultimately integrate them. 10 of the 18 players in the current squad come from the region. They have been playing in Hüttenberg since their youth and have learnt here what it takes to succeed in Germany's second-highest league. All of this makes Hüttenberg a hotspot in the Central Hesse handball region.
"We are delighted that SWG are continuing their involvement with us and, as a long-standing partner, will continue to play a major role in ensuring that handball at Bundesliga level can be played in Hüttenberg in the future," explains Timm Schneider, Managing Director of Hüttenberger Handball-Marketing GmbH und Co KG, which is responsible for Bundesliga match operations. The fact is: without helpers like SWG, top-class sport would be inconceivable - not even in Hüttenberg. The TVH does not usually buy expensive players. But the extensive youth work required for the concept does not come for free either. "We need a number of good coaches with the appropriate training and equipment to be able to optimally support our young talents and potential Bundesliga players. All of that costs a lot of money," continues Dr Christoph Schöpfer. As Managing Director of Hüttenberger Handball-Marketing GmbH und Co KG, he is responsible for finances.
By extending the contract, SWG are making an important contribution to averting the threat of insolvency. In sporting terms, everything is in the green anyway. The Hüttenberg handball team currently occupies a stable mid-table position.
More than usual
As one of the main sponsors, SWG supports TVH in inspiring its fans with good performances. However, the co-operation goes further than a typical sponsorship, where a company advertises itself on the jerseys, on the boards and in the club's various media. In Giessen, a city bus runs in the TVH design. SWG is therefore advertising for TVH here. "We want to draw attention to the team and encourage people to watch the home games and cheer on the team," says Ulli Boos, explaining the idea behind it. This also helps the club enormously - not only at the box office, but of course also in sporting terms. After all, the fans have often proved to be the deciding factor in close games at the Hüttenberg sports centre. "TVH is a big family that stands together even in difficult times. We've seen that not only during the financial crisis, but also week after week at our home games," says Timm Schneider, who is delighted with the support from the stands.
