SWG and HSG Pohlheim continue their successful partnership

Stadtwerke Gießen and HSG Pohlheim are extending their long-standing partnership for a further three years.

Just in time for the start of the season in August, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is extending its long-standing partnership with HSG Pohlheim for a further three years. It remains a key supporter of the handball scene in Central Hesse. SWG has stood by the club as a reliable partner since 2011. “HSG Pohlheim embodies values that we at Stadtwerke Gießen support wholeheartedly,” explains Ulli Boos, company spokesperson at SWG. Patrik Marsteller, First Chairman of HSG Pohlheim, adds: “A partnership that has lasted for so many years is not something to be taken for granted. For us, SWG is far more than just a sponsor – they are a reliable companion on our journey.”

Supporting young talent
What sets HSG Pohlheim apart from many other clubs is its well-thought-out youth development programme. This goes far beyond training in the hall. “We look at the whole person,” emphasises Patrik Marsteller. “For us, school, education and actively shaping club life are an integral part of handball.”

More than 170 children and young people aged between four and 18 train in 14 teams under the guidance of 25 licensed coaches. At the same time, the women’s first team in the Bezirksliga, the men’s first team in the Regionalliga and the men’s second team in the Oberliga are achieving notable success. The youth teams, too, have been competing successfully for years in the top divisions of their respective age groups. No wonder: the club attaches great importance to providing every young talent with a suitable sporting environment. The result: rising membership numbers and a programme that caters to both ambitious competitive athletes and players interested in recreational sport.

More than just sport
Furthermore, through a well-established network, the HSG opens doors to a professional future for its young players. The club arranges work placements and apprenticeships, and sometimes even permanent jobs. This means that young talents do not have to choose between their passion for sport and their career prospects – the two go hand in hand.

It was precisely this combination of sporting excellence and social responsibility that tipped the balance for SWG. “HSG Pohlheim pursues a comprehensive approach that impresses with its consistency and sustainability. Here, the focus is not merely on today’s success, but on laying the foundations for tomorrow,” emphasises Ulli Boos. He sums it up as follows: “That made it easy for us to extend the partnership for a further three years.”
