The Heuchelheim municipal council voted unanimously in favour of continuing the partnership with Stadtwerke Gießen.
The easement agreement relates exclusively to grid operation - customer contracts remain unaffected.

The municipality of Heuchelheim recently extended its partnership with Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) with regard to the infrastructure utilisation contract. On Tuesday, 17 December, Heuchelheim's mayor Lars Burkhard Steinz, the first alderman Erich Sapper and the two SWG board members Manfred Siekmann and Reinhard Paul signed the 20-year road usage contract.
This will not change anything for any consumers in the municipality. "The easement agreement relates exclusively to grid operation in Heuchelheim," explained Frank Hoffmann, Managing Director of SWG subsidiary Mittelhessen Netz GmbH. "The contracts with the customers remain unaffected. This means that households and tradesmen do not have to worry about anything," added the two SWG board members. Such an easement contract authorises energy companies to operate gas or electricity networks on or under public roads, cycle paths, pavements and squares and to lay new lines. In return, the respective municipality receives a so-called concession fee from Stadtwerke Gießen.
Heuchelheim's mayor Lars Burkhard Steinz explained: "We are delighted to be continuing our cooperation with a strong and experienced partner that is rooted in the region. SWG's offer has convinced us, as the unanimous vote of the municipal council shows."
