The weather has been frosty across Germany for days now and radiators are running at full blast in our homes. Although temperatures are expected to rise again a little in the coming days, the end of the heating period is still some way off.
Matthias Acker, Head of Customer Services at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), points out: "After the comparatively mild winters of recent years, some tenants and homeowners have reduced their discounts for natural gas and district heating or set them at a low level." He advises all those to increase the amount they regularly pay and explains why: "If you adjust your instalment to the low temperatures, you avoid an unpleasant surprise when you receive your annual bill - a large additional payment."
The SWG online service at onlineservice.stadtwerke-giessen.de allows you to change your budget billing quickly and easily from the comfort of your own home. Anyone not yet using the service can register on the same page with their customer and meter number.
Customers also have the option of contacting the staff at the SWG customer centre for adjustments.
