Once again, suspected fraudsters in Giessen have tried to gain access to the homes of customers of Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG). One recent case involves the tenants of a house in Troppauer Straße. They stated that a man in civilian clothes had rung their doorbell and asked for access. According to the SWG customers, he wanted to read the meter. However, as this had already happened a few weeks previously, the residents did not let the suspected fraudster into the house.
"The customers did exactly the right thing. If in doubt, you shouldn't let anyone in and always ask for ID. If you are still not sure, you can call us first and find out whether it is actually an SWG employee," explains Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG.
Anyone who experiences similar problems can contact SWG on the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from German landlines and all German mobile networks), at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz or by e-mail at info@stadtwerke-giessen.de
