On Sunday 30 September, the Ringallee outdoor pool opened for the last time this year. The summer of the century brought the highest visitor numbers to Giessen's pools since 2003.

More than 100 days with temperatures of 25 degrees and above - the summer of 2018 is not only likely to have set records in the visitor statistics for Giessen's pools. In a season lasting exactly four months, over 163,000 people came to the Ringallee outdoor pool to enjoy the sun and cool off regularly. "This means that the Ringallee outdoor pool alone recorded more visitors than all of our outdoor pools combined last year," says a delighted Uwe Volbrecht, Head of Pool Operations at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG). In total, around 207,000 people used SWG's outdoor pools in Ringallee, Kleinlinden and Lützellinden. "This means we have almost equalled the record set in 2003," adds Uwe Volbrecht.

Fit for the winter season
While the outdoor pool is being prepared for its winter rest in the coming weeks, operations in the indoor pool are already running at full speed again. SWG has used the summer months to modernise the sauna area. If everything goes according to plan, the work will be completed by the end of October. "We have made great progress in recent weeks. Our sauna guests can look forward to a completely redesigned wet area," announces Uwe Volbrecht.

Information on opening times and prices at the Ringallee bathing centre is available from the service telephone on 0641 708-1411 and at www.giessener-baeder.de.
