Public utilities close outdoor pools in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden

Summer is coming to an end, at least at the open-air swimming pools in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden run by Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG). Next Friday, 9 September 2005, the gates of these two pools will close for the year. The Ringallee outdoor pool is expected to remain open until 11 September 2005. Even if the last few days have been a little conciliatory: The summer of 2005 has not covered itself in glory. Only a few days with temperatures above 30 degrees and many rainy weekends. This is also reflected in the number of visitors to the outdoor pools in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden. A total of 15,909 bathers have visited the Kleinlinden outdoor pool so far this season, only slightly more than last year (when there were 14,315 visitors). By way of comparison: in the summer of the century in 2003, SWG enjoyed 31,285 bathers in Kleinlinden. So far this summer, SWG has counted 15,267 visitors to the Lützellinden outdoor pool. In 2004, the figure was 15,423. More than twice as many bathers, namely 33,904, used the outdoor pool to cool off in the beautiful summer of 2003, and we can only hope that next summer will be a real outdoor pool summer again.
