On 28 February, there could be cancellations and delays on numerous buses in the Giessen city area. This also affects the vehicles on the municipal routes operated by the Stadtwerke Gießen subsidiary MIT.BUS.
The reason: the state association of Hessian bus companies (LHO) and the trade union ver.di are currently negotiating new tariffs. The representatives of the parties have not yet reached an agreement. Ahead of the next round of negotiations on Wednesday 29 February, ver.di has called on bus drivers to strike and hold a rally in Wiesbaden.
The buses in Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Marburg were already at a standstill on Monday 27 February.
On Tuesday, it is possible that ver.di members in Giessen, Fulda and Wiesbaden will also go on strike. "This could affect all local transport lines at any time," warns Anne Müller-Kreutz, Head of Local Transport Services at Stadtwerke Gießen. "We therefore advise all passengers to find out about possible cancellations in good time on the radio, on the Internet, in the newspaper or by calling our service number 0180 22 11 100."
