Stadtwerke Giessen supports the Giessen Summer of Culture

As in the past three years, SWG will once again be a premium partner for the Giessen Summer of Culture in 2025.
Big events cast their shadows ahead: from 20 August, the Schiffenberg will once again be the venue for eleven evenings of entertainment. For the ninth edition of the Giessen Summer of Culture, the organisers have once again succeeded in attracting top-class artists to the popular open-air festival - including international stars such as Ronan Keating and Rea Garvey, as well as top German acts such as Johannes Oerding and Fury in the Slaughterhouse. Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) is also once again part of the event. "The Giessen Summer of Culture has blossomed into an event known far beyond the region - and a real highlight in Central Hesse. We are fully committed to supporting such a popular and important cultural event for the region," says Ulli Boos, company spokesman for SWG, explaining the decision. For the organisers behind the event, this kind of cooperation is fundamental. "We are delighted that SWG is once again involved as a premium partner, as it has been for the past three years," explains Dennis Bahl, Managing Director of Konzertbüro Bahl GmbH and one of the organisers, adding: "Reliable partners like SWG are a necessary prerequisite for putting on a festival like this."
Special location, familiar atmosphere
The special atmosphere on the Schiffenberg undoubtedly plays a decisive role in the extraordinary success story of the Giessen Summer of Culture. Visitors experience the concerts in a very special, historic location, which ensures a certain closeness due to the available space alone. In addition, there is not only good music and an exuberant party atmosphere on the Schiffenberg, but also various culinary delights. And the organisers leave nothing to chance in this sector either. "Our gastronomic concept has developed and proven itself over the years. We only offer our guests high-quality regional products at reasonable prices," says Markus Urich, also Managing Director of the concert office, describing the idea.
However, it is not only the people in front of the stage who appreciate the event, but also all those who sing and play on it. There is no other explanation for the fact that absolute top acts, who usually only perform in front of much larger audiences, keep coming to Giessen. "We make sure that all artists feel at home here. For example, by fulfilling even unusual requests - such as a very special drink after the show," reveals Markus Urich.
Always enough power
SWG is involved in the Giessen Summer of Culture in two ways. Firstly, they support the event financially and thus help to keep the ticket prices affordable. Secondly, they are actively involved. By contributing one of their core competences and creating the technical conditions for the festival - in the form of the necessary power supply. Because as spectacular as the backdrop against the historic monastery walls is, the existing power lines on site are simply unable to cope with the energy demands of the modern event technology for the sound system, lighting system and video walls.
