Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) is having its power lines in Gießen flown over by helicopter on behalf of Mittelhessen Netz GmbH to check for possible damage. On Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., the company Heliflight will take off in a helicopter to inspect the power lines in the grid area. According to SWG, the helicopter is expected to be in operation until 18:00.
Security of supply is the measure of all things - especially for customers. SWG manages an electricity grid that is around 2,750 kilometres long, of which 2,650 kilometres are underground cables and 150 kilometres are overhead lines. Such measures are necessary to ensure that Stadtwerke Gießen AG can continue to offer its customers an outstanding quality of supply in the future.
Efficient monitoring of the line network helps to save costs.
When flying overhead lines, masts, conductor cables and ground distances are measured precisely. At the same time, the tree spacing along a line route is also checked for the required safety distances. The results of this measure are also of particular interest when planning line installations.
