Contrary to the upward trend in energy prices last year, there is now a breather for consumers. Customers of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) can breathe a sigh of relief: SWG is keeping its electricity prices for private customers constant until 31 December 2008. Our price promise gives our electricity customers price reliability and therefore planning security," says Manfred Siekmann, CEO of SWG.
SWG's natural gas and district heating customers also benefit from a price guarantee. The Giessen-based energy and water supplier promises to keep prices for natural gas and heating stable for private customers until the end of September. It is not yet possible to say whether the natural gas and heating prices will remain stable beyond this date.
98,000 customers in the electricity supply sector, 26,500 gas customers and 6,000 heating customers benefit from SWG's price promise.
On-site service
In contrast to many low-cost providers, who usually increase their prices significantly after a while or often offer unfavourable all-inclusive packages for end customers, the municipal utilities rely on their local service. "It's important to us to be close to our customers," says Ina Weller, company spokesperson for SWG, "which is why we recommend that our customers use our service." To help customers manage their individual consumption efficiently and reduce it in the long term, SWG's energy advice and tariff advice service is available at the infoCentre on Marktplatz. The central contact point is open to customers from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. For information by telephone, customers can contact the energy advice centre on 0641 708-1177 or simply send an email to Energieberatung@stadtwerke-giessen.de.
