The weather forecast is good and the swimming season can start. In Giessen, the municipal utilities will open the outdoor pool in Ringallee to the public on Tuesday, 15 May from 9 am. "In spring, as we do every year, we set about repairing minor damage so that everything is now working perfectly," says Reinhard Paul, Technical Director of SWG.
In terms of opening hours, everything will remain the same in 2012, but there will be a slight adjustment to admission prices. After 3 years without a price increase, a single ticket now costs 2.60 euros, a 5-person ticket is available for 10.40 euros and a season ticket for adults costs 72.80 euros. On average, the prices will rise by around 20 cents in relation to the individual price. The reduced annual ticket price for children and other people entitled to a discount is currently 48.50 euros, while the family ticket for the whole season costs 145.60 euros. Furthermore, this year there is the additional option of a so-called early swimmer ticket for season ticket purchasers. This allows you to enter the outdoor pool from 7 a.m. and swim your laps undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of the other pools early in the morning.
"We know that price increases are never popular," says Reinhard Paul, trying to gain the understanding of bathers, "but we have to keep investing heavily in the pool to keep everything in good shape and to expand the facilities." For example, the fulfilment of fire protection measures will continue to require considerable investment. A planned and already constructed outdoor terrace for the indoor pool will further increase the attractiveness of the swimming centre in Ringallee. The SWG Management Board. "I think we will continue to have a fair price-performance ratio and will ensure that it stays that way in the interests of all Giessen residents."
