The Bieber Protestant day care centre in Biebertal is pursuing a new concept. Instead of one large group, there will soon be two groups for the 40 girls and boys. "We will be remodelling the rooms a little and buying new toys," says Brigitte Hofmann, acting director of the facility since the beginning of November. There is also work to be done in the bistro. "Almost every noise from the large room can be heard outside at the moment, even the usual clattering of crockery when setting the table," explains Brigitte Hofmann. As a result, the children are also talking louder and louder in the neighbouring rooms and the noise level is spiralling upwards. Sound absorbers on the walls and ceiling should prevent this in future. And the panels don't just have acoustic benefits. Thanks to their cloud shape, they are also suitable for enhancing the visual appearance of the room.
Mathias Leib, who works in the Energy & Water Networks department at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), knew about these plans. His youngest son attends the daycare centre. "I've known the daycare centre for a long time and knew that all the projects would be difficult to manage financially. That's why I nominated the centre for one of the 75 good deeds of Stadtwerke Giessen in its anniversary year," explains the SWG employee. He recently presented Brigitte Hofmann and Irmgard Dürr, representing the church council, with the symbolic donation cheque for the purchase of the noise protection panels. "We would like to thank Stadtwerke Giessen for helping us with this good deed. This will enable us to realise some of our plans sooner than we thought," said Irmgard Dürr at the cheque presentation.
