Wednesday 14 May marks the start of the outdoor pool season in Giessen. Stadtwerke Gießen AG's (SWG) Ringallee outdoor pool is ready for the onslaught of guests who want to swim. The municipal utilities open the gates of the Ringallee outdoor pool at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The swimming pool will be open to visitors every day until 8 pm until September.
Final preparations
Reinhard Paul, Technical Director of SWG, and Uwe Volbrecht, Deputy Head of the swimming pool department, demonstrated that the municipal utilities have done their homework on Tuesday during a tour of the freshly refurbished site. Water has been in the pools for a week now. Swimmers can look forward to a fresh 19 degrees. To ensure that the sunbathing lawns are also ready in time for the start of the season, SWG's 5-strong team of gardeners has been working flat out.
Winter break utilised
The municipal utilities used the winter break to equip the non-swimmers' pool with a new pool head. As part of this work, the paving around the pool was also renewed. The gutter collection pipe in the area of the non-swimmers' pool is also new. The latest investments for the Giessen outdoor pool cost the municipal utility company over 160 thousand euros.
Admission prices
The admission prices for this outdoor pool summer remain constant, reported Uwe Volbrecht. A single ticket costs 2.20 euros. The price for a 5-person ticket is 8.80 euros. Adults pay 61.60 euros for a season ticket, while children and those entitled to reduced admission tickets pay 30.80 euros. The family ticket is available for 123.20 euros.
Early swimmers
Once again this year, Stadtwerke is offering its bathing guests the early swimmers' programme. Anyone who would like to and purchases an early swimmer ticket with their season ticket can swim their laps in the outdoor pool from 7 a.m. every day.
