The outdoor pool season in Giessen begins on Friday, 15 May. The Ringallee outdoor pool is ready for the onslaught of guests who want to swim. The Stadtwerke will open the gates of the Ringallee outdoor pool at 9 a.m. on Friday. The swimming pool will be open to visitors every day until 8pm until September.
Final preparations
Uwe Volbrecht, deputy head of the swimming pool department, documented the fact that the municipal utilities have done their homework on Thursday during a tour of the freshly refurbished site. There has been water in the pools for a week now. Swimmers can currently expect temperatures of 19 degrees. The SWG gardening team has been working flat out to ensure that the sunbathing lawns are ready in time for the start of the season.
Winter break utilised
The municipal utilities used the winter break for the usual renovation work and installed a new ticket system. Thanks to the new technology, if a season ticket is lost, the lost card can be cancelled and a replacement card easily obtained.
Another new feature: in order to further reduce water consumption, it is now possible to pump excess pool water from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool. This also saves heating energy for heating the pool water in the outdoor pool.
Admission prices
The admission prices, which have remained constant since 2006, will rise slightly this season. In future, swimming pool visitors will pay 20 cents more for a single entry, reported Volbrecht. A single ticket will cost 2.40 euros. The price for a 5-person ticket is 9.60 euros. Adults will pay 67.20 euros for a season ticket, while children and those entitled to reduced admission tickets will pay 44.80 euros. The family ticket is available for 134.40 euros.
Early swimmers
This year, Stadtwerke is once again offering its bathing guests early swimming. Anyone who would like to and purchases an early swimmer ticket with their season ticket can swim their laps in the outdoor pool from 7 a.m. every day.
