Around 81,000 visitors enjoyed the sun and cool water at the Ringallee outdoor pool in 2014. Friday 12 September is the last chance to swim a few laps in the open air this year. Stadtwerke Gießen is bringing the outdoor pool season to a close and heralding the start of the indoor pool season.

In contrast to 2013, the summer was not at its best during the long holidays in Hesse. There were no long periods with days of sunshine and high temperatures like last year. So it's no wonder that visitor numbers at the Ringallee outdoor pool fell by around 10,000 to 81,000. "Unfortunately, the weather was not characterised by ideal conditions for sun-seekers and outdoor pool fans. That's why we are very satisfied with the figures," explains Uwe Volbrecht from Stadtwerke Gießen's pool administration.

The Ringallee outdoor pool will open for the last time this year on Friday 12 September. Only the entrance via the turnstile on the Landesgartenschau grounds is expected to remain open until 5 October - as access to the water playground on the outdoor pool grounds.
The non-swimmer, diving and swimmer pools will be closed from Saturday 13 September. The autumn and winter season starts on the same day. The indoor pool and the Ringallee sauna will then open their doors again as usual at 8 am and 9 am respectively. This means that the usual longer opening hours for the indoor season will also apply: The indoor pool and sauna close at 6 pm on Sundays.
