In the legal dispute between Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) and Mieterverein Gießen e. V., the district court in Gießen has confirmed the judgement of the local court from December 2011. The tenants' association had lodged an appeal against the decision of the district court, but this has now been rejected. The association must therefore now pay various gas bills for its premises at Bleichstraße 28 to SWG. The tenants' association had questioned the legality of these and had not paid them in full, as SWG had previously adjusted the prices.
The regional court has now confirmed that SWG was in principle entitled to make price adjustments vis-à-vis the tenants' association. The court also considered it proven that the price increases were reasonable and appropriate. According to the findings of the regional court, SWG's price adjustments have always been in the lower or middle price segment of all nationwide gas suppliers.
The tenants' association can still appeal against the judgement of the regional court to the Federal Court of Justice.
